Everyone on Daily Kos wants Bush and Cheney gone. But we know it wouldn't be easy. The Democrats in Congress don't want to consume the better part of two years trying to get it done then be stymied by the Republicans and end up getting nothing done. And of course the Republicans don't want to cross their own party, even if they know Bush and Cheney are disastrous. They'd hate to end up with Pelosi as president and 2008 further complicated.
But what if the Dems and Repubs set a few guidelines, compromises for how it would go? Such as agreeing in advance that between Cheney's impeachment/removal and Bush's that a new Republican vice president would be in place. The office is already held by a Republican, so it wouldn't be such a terrible thing to fill it with another one (as much as we detest the Republicans.) However, a part of the compromise is that it would be a Republican who agreed to leave 2008 open, not to run for election. Maybe some old, halfway reliable Republican like Bob Dole. Since he always carries a pen, he could easily sign it that he agreed to this condition, and also that there'd be no pardons for anyone.
